In addition to HIK, 93 other teams from 16 different countries played in Boys 16. They were divided into 15 different groups, whereof HIK could be found in Group 5 together with Ludvika HF, Kolstad IL, MTV Dänischenhagen, H43 Lund 1 and Tyresö Handboll. HIK continued to A-Play-off after reaching 3:rd place in Group 5. In the playoff they made it to 1/4 Final, but lost it against IK Sävehof 1 with 9-18. In the Final, Skanderborg HB won over Norrköpings HK and became the winner of A-Play-off in Boys 16.
